Shiro Japanese beauty cream

Shiro, a Japanese beauty brand, have been my (very late) introduction to Japanese skincare

And I think I picked a good brand to start with.

Shiro, which means ‘white’ in Japanese, base their minimalist products on natural ingredients, found in Japan and chosen for their cleansing properties.

I’ve used just a couple of their products, long enough now to say that I like, and would recommend them.

Without further ado then, here are my initial thoughts on Shiro.

Shiro Sake Kasu lotion

My adventures in Shiro start with the Sake Kasu, an incredibly lightweight lotion. Its main ingredient is a by-product of traditional sake brewing, and is often used in moisturisers for its skin hydration properties and high levels of minerals and
amino acids.

I love how light the lotion is – almost like a lotion in suspension. I use this almost like you would a toner – with a cotton pad, and in large, curving motions across my temples and cheeks.

Since using it, I’ve noticed my pores look much less obvious, and have had fewer struggles with the dryer and colder Autumn air.

Shiro Sesame cleansing oil

I’m a sucker for anything sesame-based, and so was always going to gravitate towards this cleansing oil.

It does a great job wiping the remnants of a hard day off my face, and also is quite good and removing makeup.

Most importantly though, using it hasn’t made me break out. I can sometimes have quite sensitive skin, but no complaints yet from it :)

Shiro Butterbur UV cream

Last but not least is Shiro’s UV cream, which packs in nutrient-rich Butterbur, as well as giving you skin a little SPF25 protection.

Although this isn’t my favourite product, I have to admit that having some sun protection that’s lightweight and fragrance-free has been super useful. I guess it’s one of those products that works hard, quietly.

All in all, I think I’ve had an interesting introduction to the world of Japanese skincare, and can’t wait to discover more.
