Experience The French Riviera with The Mandeville Hotel and Maison Christian Lacroix.

In collaboration with Maison Christian Lacroix, the fifth floor of The Mandeville Hotel has been redesigned and each of the four rooms show a different strand of the spirit of the French Riviera. The fashion-forward redesign is based on Maison Lacroix’s “Belles Rives” Collection, and each of the four revamped rooms is a couture treat, echoing the vibe of the Lacroix spirit.

The Hotel

The Mandeville is a boutique hotel in Marylebone with a marble foyer, quirky design details and an up and coming cocktail bar. The hotel is just far enough down James Street for the hustle and bustle of central London’s busiest thoroughfare to be left behind, but still located within walking distance of Selfridges, Oxford Street and Bond Street, with Mayfair just around the corner.

The Room

The House of Christian Lacroix are famed in Paris and around the world for their flamboyant Haute Couture fashion sense, as well as their range of wallpapers and home design fabrics. Using Lacroix’s inspiration from the French Riviera, the four rooms at The Mandeville have been redesigned with influences coming from Jean Cocteau’s famous “Santo Sospir” Villa in Southern France to Grace Kelly’s classic film ‘To Catch a Thief’.

Our room for the evening, The Jewel Box, is inspired by the Cartier jewels stolen from Grace Kelly with its emerald fabrics and silky blue embossed wallpapers, printed with Macarena lace motifs and balanced with classic Lacroix silver and black stripes.

The various prints, designs and colours are at first overwhelming, and then intoxicating.
Bespoke fabrics and wallpapers are splashed vibrantly across the floor, from the pink halls and into our room of silky blue, monochrome stripes and embossed wallpaper.

The entire feel is wonderfully decadent, and in the middle of it a double bed of pure white topped with a fluffy duvet and quartet of yielding pillows…

Needless to say, one of the most restful nights sleep that I’ve had in a while.

The crisp white bathroom is furnished with C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries toiletries, and the room benefits from a flat screen television, mini bar and an all important Nespresso machine for the morning. Room service is available and you can even have your full english brought to you in bed!

Food and Drink

Reform Social & Grill is the restaurant located on the ground floor of The Mandeville Hotel, and also includes a bar and chesterfield-filled den.

Moving into the main restaurant we try the rib eye steak with grilled mushroom – a very serviceable affair, along with roasted autumn vegetables and thickly cut chips. Desserts are just as lovely with its trio of sweet Yorkshire Puddings, filled with chocolate, caramel, clotted cream, banana and custard.
