You check the menu and realize you might spend the best part of £80 per person. Ouch. To make things easier, we’ve done some homework and found places to eat at for under £35 with pretty views of the city. Here’s out list of more* affordable restaurants in London with a view.

* I know the £35 mark is still on the pricey side. But it is the more affordable option if you want a fancy lunch with a view in central London.

For a romantic date with central London views

Located on the 31st floor of the Shard is Aqua Shard. It’s a fancy restaurant with some incredible views of central London.

Aqua Shard do a three-course lunch menu from Monday-Friday at £34 per person. There’s plenty to choose from including rabbit terrine to start, lamb chops for main, and caramelized white chocolate mousse for dessert. Not too shabby! It would make a great place for a romantic date.

Just be mindful though, because you’ll need to pay an additional supplement for some things on the menu, like the sea bass. Those things are marked out for you so you should be able to tell straight away.

Lunch at Aqua Shard is available Monday to Friday from 12 – 2:30pm.

2. OXO Tower Restaurant, Southbank

For a fancy afternoon tea in London with river views

The view from the top of the OXO tower is just lovely! You get the full sweep of Southbank and the river Thames.

Best of all, you can visit the OXO restaurant for an afternoon tea at £35 per person. Their tea includes some interesting things I’ve not seen before, like finger sandwiches of golden beetroot and date molasses. For a more traditional option, try the slow-cooked beef rump sandwiches (with truffle cheese).

And from the dessert part of the afternoon tea you’ve gotta try the raspberry choux buns – they’re a delight. All in all, it’s not bad for an affordable restaurant in central London with a view.

Afternoon tea at OXO Tower Restaurant is available Monday to Saturday from 3 – 4pm, and Sunday from 3:30 – 4:30pm.

Halal food status: OXO Tower Restaurant don’t serve any halal meat. They do have halal fish and vegetarian options.

3. Duck and Waffle, Liverpool Street

For the best views over the city of London

Ok, so Duck and Waffle is a super fancy restaurant in central London, and it’s got a price tag to match.

But there’s one reason I’m including it in the list of affordable restaurants in London with a view. And it’s because you can order their signature ‘duck and waffle’ dish for £20, and a side for £7. Bringing your total to under £35.

I’d go at lunch with a couple of my girlfriends, eat some scrumptious food and enjoy the views over central London.

The signature dish at Duck and Waffle is available to order on both the breakfast and all-day menu. So, you can try it Monday to Sunday 8 – 12:30am.

4. Le Pont De La Tour, Tower Bridge

For cool views over Tower Bridge and the river Thames

At Le Pont De La Tour you can try the three course ‘Taste of Summer’ menu, priced at £35. There are a bunch of yummy things to choose from, but I’d start with the duck confit tart, then have the soft herb gnocchi, and finish with crème brulee.

As for the view, Le Pont De La Tour have brilliant vistas over Tower Bridge in central London.

The Taste of Summer menu at Le Pont De La Tour is available Monday to Wednesday from 12 – 3pm, and 5:30 – 6:30pm. On weekends, it’s available Friday to Sunday from 12 – 6:30pm.
