Lunch at The Corner at Selfridges

Exploring the new summer menu at The Corner at Selfridges

There’s something glamourous and old-school about Selfridges. It’s all rolling façade and twisting stonework, layered high like a wedding cake. And today we’re heading in to have lunch at The Corner at Selfridges.

It’s a cute little place, located on the 2nd floor. There are cool marble tables, sensible glass table dividers, and lovely views out onto Oxford Street.

It also helps that the food is delicious ;)

So what did we eat at The Corner?

The menu has recently changed to reflect the hot weather, and we dip in with a starter of summer vegetables, faro and feta cheese. It’s lovely and inspires us to make something like it at home.

Better still are the mussels in a glossy tomato sauce, with a slice of crostini smeared with bottarga butter.

And to be honest these two would be enough for a light lunch, but we couldn’t come and not order the lobster spaghettini. It doesn’t look it, but there are enormous chunks of lobster in the pasta – about half a lobster in all. It’s a glorious, sunny dish; one that takes me back to being on holiday. And it’s an enormous portion – it doesn’t seem to end.

We also have seared salmon with a crème fraiche and dill yoghurt. The fish is wonderfully cooked, juicy in the fleshy part, and with a crackling skin.

Lunch ends with a couple of desserts. I have the buttermilk panna cotta with strawberries, and it’s lemon sorbet for hubby.
