Here’s our round-up of cute cafes in London

I love finding pretty places to have coffee and cake. And luckily for me, there are a bunch of cute cafes in London.

You know the ones I mean – with the flower walls, and teeny little macaroons, and latte art. But more than that, these are coffee shops where you can relax, sip a hot drink, and take a cute picture or two. (Or a hundred, if my phone is anything to go by).

I’ve looked for these pretty cafes far and wide and have been to them a bunch of times. For research, you know ;)

And the nicest ones I’ve found are all in central London, which is handy since they’re easy enough to get to from near on anywhere.

Without further ado, here’s my *ultimate* list of cute cafes in London!

1. Aubaine, Selfridges

Aubaine selfridges cute cafes in london

For wisteria vibes

I *love* the branch of Aubaine in Selfridges – just look at it! It’s covered in wisteria (fake, but still pretty), and doesn’t have a bad angle to it. It also helps that the food is delicious, and if you get a seat by the window the views aren’t bad either. Order a giant cappuccino and a pistachio pastry – you won’t look back.

Halal food status: all chicken, beef and lamb is halal at Aubaine, Selfridges. For individual cakes and pastries, check with the staff about gelatin content (for this cafe and all others in the list).

2. Laduree, Covent Garden

For pastel colours and unbeatable macarons

Cafes don’t get much more photogenic than Laduree, and the Covent Garden branch is by far the prettiest. I’m a sucker for their macarons, and will happily pick out half a dozen to munch on with tea. But their other desserts are great too, and their choux buns filled with orange blossom crème patisserie. Yum.

Halal food status: all chicken, beef and lamb is halal at Laduree, Covent Garden.

3. Maitre Choux, Chelsea

For picture-perfect eclairs

When it comes to cute cafes in London, Maitre Choux is one of the best. They’ve pretty much nailed the flower wall aesthetic, which makes for a great backdrop to enjoy their sweet treats. Maitre Choux are known for their stunning eclairs, lined up in perfect rows waiting to be eaten. The café also has an afternoon tea, featuring the eclairs and a line up of delicious finger sandwiches too.

Halal food status: Maitre Choux only serve cakes and pastries (ask staff about gelatin content before you order).

4. Mariage Freres, Covent Garden

For hundreds of exotic teas

Mariage Freres is a French brand that specializes in tea. They have hundreds of varieties to choose from, and their outpost in Covent Garden sells them in the most beautiful packaging. Their café is filled with decorated canisters of tea, and you can find some of the most rare and delicious ones here.

Mariage Freres also do beautiful patisseries, and their upstairs café is bathed in light. It’s a gorgeous little café in London!

Halal food status: Mariage Freres don’t have any halal meat, but there are fish and vegetarian options. Ask staff about gelatin content of cakes and pastries.

5. Saint Aymes, Connaught Village

For 23-carat gold hot chocolate

Hands down, Saint Aymes is one of the prettiest coffee shops in London. It’s located just off Edgeware Road, in the prettily named Connaught Village. So far, so pretty 😉 And to be honest, what makes it so lovely is the two or three tables outside, where you can sip a 23-carat gold hot chocolate and be under an arch of wisteria blooms. It’s a great spot for people-watching.

Halal food status: chicken is halal at Saint Aymes, Connaught Village.

6. Jacob the Angel, Seven Dials

For a pared-back aesthetic and coconut cakes

Seven Dials is probably one of the nicest ‘hidden’ spots of London. It’s not a secret, but it is tucked away from the main road and feels like a bit of a haven. Especially on quieter weekdays. And one of the cafes inside it is called Jacob the Angel. Their aesthetic is much more minimal than the other cafes we’ve listed, but it’s undoubtedly gorgeous.

And the biggest draw is their food. Try the coconut bread, which they toast and serve thickly with butter. Or, for something sweeter, have their coconut cream pies with torched meringue. It’s one of the best things I’ve eaten at a coffee shop in London.

Halal food status: Jacob the Angel only serve cakes and pastries (ask staff about gelatin content before you order).

7. Caravan, Fitzrovia

For croissants dipped in meringue and blow-torched

Caravan itself is a full-blown chain of restaurant, but the Fitzrovia branch has beautiful café for a more informal day out.

They’re got huge picture windows, chunky wooden tables, and the prettiest pastries around. I especially love their lemon meringue croissants. Which are basically croissants dipped in meringue and then blow-torched. Sticky, golden, and damn delicious.

Halal food status: Caravan don’t have any halal meat, but there are fish and vegetarian options. Ask staff about gelatin content of cakes and pastries.

8. EL&N, Knightsbridge

pretty cute cafe in london

For a pure pink aesthetic (that includes a pony)

EL&N took the idea of a cute café in London and jacked it up about 1000%. They don’t play around here; everything is pink and covered in blooms, and there’s even a pink pony! You could point a camera anywhere and get a pretty picture.

And their cakes are delicious too. This is another café that get’s busy, so I’d recommend visiting a little earlier in the day to bag a nice table and have the place more to yourself.

Halal food status: All the food at EL&N is halal (they only serve chicken), and there is no pork gelatin in any of the cakes or pastries.

9. Peggy Porschen, Victoria

peggy-porschen-instagram-cake

For an Instagrammer’s Mecca

And lastly we come to Peggy Porschen! Their branch in Victoria is an Instagram Mecca. Literally. People come far and wide to wait outside for the perfect picture in front of the café. Myself included :D. The café also change their decorations quite often, much more so than any other. So they’ll be easter eggs for Easter and hearts for Valentines Day, etc.

Although it’s a gorgeous place, in the past I’ve found it to be more about the aesthetics than the food. Still, when it comes to cute cafes in London, it’s gotta be up there as one of the prettiest.

Halal food status: All chicken is halal at Peggy Porschen.
