About the hotel – 25 Hours Bikini Berlin

25 Hours Bikini Berlin is a cool, young and affordable hotel, with great access to some of the best sites in Berlin.

Read about the 9 best things to do in Berlin.

Located in a former 1950s high-rise in West Berlin, the hotel is a study in industrial-naturalism.

In keeping with the look, I especially love the reception with its jungle of hammocks and tactile features. This is also the first time we experience the wonderful view out on to Berlin zoo.

The aesthetic speaks of concrete and glass against the more natural materials of wood and plants.

In addition there are glass walls that allow for a playful contrast between the interior and exterior. I particularly love the way the hotel is juxtaposed against the Zoological gardens just outside.

Location

Located at the foot of Berlin Zoo and the Tiergarten, 25 Hours Bikini Berlin is well connected to the city centre with S and U Bahn stations just minutes away. Furthermore it’s a 20 minute walk through the Tiergarten to the city centre and the popular area of Mitte.

The Room

25 Hours Bikini Berlin has rooms with some of the best views. The Jungle rooms overlook the ape enclosure of the zoo on one side, and the Urban rooms overlook the Kaiser Wilhelm Church on the other.

Consequently our zoo-facing Jungle Room means that we wake up to the incredible sounds of animals having breakfast.

Throughout the morning the sounds get more varied – apes jabbering, the trumpeting of elephants and a cacophony of other animals. Most of all, the thrill of experiencing it first hand is fantastic. Still in my pyjamas and leaning against the balcony window and over the zoo itself, this experience is going to stay with me a long time to come.

As well as the view the room itself is spacious and features a properly fluffy and super comfy white bed.

In addition to this there is an open plan, high pressure shower with sleek black tiles.

Although room service isn’t available, the hotel has some really wonderful dining and drinking facilities…

Which brings us to the highly recommended penthouse restaurant, Neni. As well as serving a great dinner Neni also hosts breakfast in the morning.

Wake up bright and early and try the breads, eggs, muesli, porridge, seeds, grains, fish, cold meats and even shakshuka.

On the opposite end of the floor is the rooftop Monkey Bar with a wraparound outdoor terrace. The urban-natural aesthetic is amplified with walls of glass that seem to allow the whole of Berlin to rush in.

With DJs and a top notch menu, the evenings are always a busy time at Monkey Bar and it’s a great place to mingle with locals.

In addition to this, the 3rd floor reception has an in-house bakery if you fancy a mid day snack.

A little bit extra…
