Down to business then. Here are the best cafes in Notting Hill according to TikTok:
- Chai Guys Bakehouse
- Layla
- Kuro Bakery
- Fabrique
- Knoops Hot Chocolate
1. Chai Guys Bakehouse

For excellent laminated pastry and big flavours
If TikTok has taught us anything, it is that laminated pastry still rules. Chai Guys Bakehouse cafe and coffee shop in Notting Hill proves why.
We tried the chai au raisin (£4.80). The pastry arrived big, flaky, and properly laminated. Each layer pulled apart cleanly, and the spice blend came through clearly without overwhelming the butteriness of the dough.
What stood out most was balance. The pastry tasted indulgent but not heavy and the spices felt warm rather than aggressive. It also felt generous, both in size and flavour.
Both of us rated it highly, and it is easy to see why this Notting Hill cafe and coffee shop keeps popping up on TikTok. This is a pastry you would happily return for, and next time try one of the masala or kadak chais with it.
Rating – 4.5/5
Address – 193 Portobello Rd, London W11 2ED
2. Layla

For an interesting mix of pastries and fresh bread
Layla looks like it should be excellent one of the best coffee shops and cafes in Notting Hill – according to TikTok anyway. The space is very easy on the eye and is full of food and drink you want to order. The pastry counter invites people in.
We tried the eggnog tart (£6.50), eating in with a coffee and a dirty chai latte. The pastry itself was light and flaky, and the custard had a lovely texture. It felt smooth, soft, and carefully made.
However, flavour was where it fell short. The custard lacked depth, which made the overall experience feel flatter than expected. Nothing tasted bad – it just didn’t linger.
Layla is still a nice place to stop. It feels pleasant and polished. But, while TikTok often frames it as a must-visit, we left thinking it was good rather than memorable. Also Layla only has communal seating outdoors, none indoors – so best to visit in warmer months.
Rating – 3/5
Address – 332 Portobello Rd, London W10 5SA
3. Kuro Bakery

For Japanese pastries
Our next Notting Hill coffee shop and cafe, Kuro, sits firmly in Japandi minimalist territory. It has clean lines, restrained colours, and a menu that leans Japanese in both flavour and approach.
We tried the hojicha sakura pastry (£5.70) as a takeaway. The sweetness stayed restrained, which worked well, but the hojicha flavour could have been stronger. The chestnut icing added richness and balance, and the texture leaned chewy, which gave it personality.
This is the kind of Notting Hill cafe and coffee shop that TikTok loves for visuals, but it also delivers enough flavour to justify the attention. It is subtle rather than bold, and that will suit some people more than others.
Also note that Kuro Bakery is pretty small, with no seating indoors and only a single bench outside.
Rating – 4/5
Address – 5 Hillgate St, London W8 7SP
4. Fabrique

For comforting and reliable bakes
Fabrique rarely shouts for attention, yet it continues to appear in best of lists for a reason.
The Swedish bakery specialises in sourdough and cardamom buns, and everything feels carefully made. The pastries lean less sweet, more aromatic with their cardamom and cinnamon fillings, and deeply comforting. Fabrique is definitely worth a visit as one of the best cafes and coffee shops in Notting Hill.
Rating – 4/5
Address – 212 Portobello Rd, London W11 1LA
5. Knoops Hot Chocolate
For luxurious hot chocolate
Knoops is a Notting Hill cafe, and their main offering is hot chocolate. Not just any hot chocolate though, they have a whole menu of different % hot chocolates, with tasting notes alongside, at different price points.
The result is rich, properly chocolatey, and deeply comforting. This is not novelty hot chocolate. It is serious, grown-up, and well executed hot chocolate. And one that’s worth being called one of the best cafes in Notting Hill, according to TikTok.
We’ve dropped a point from the rating though because the hot chocolate isn’t the thick, ooΩy kind, it’s the thin, slurp-able kind. And we all know that the melted chocolate kinda hot chocolate is the best.
Rating – 4/5
Address – 199 Portobello Rd, London W11 1LU
