The Great Feast at Old Selfridges Hotel in London
An immersive dining and live music experience at Old Selfridges Hotel
The Great Feast at Old Selfridges Hotel is a new dining and live music pop up, located in what used to be a hotel above the Selfridges foodhall. The enormous warehouse space has now been transformed and includes a number of food and drink experiences, each one more interesting than the last. Let’s dive in.
At the Great Feast pop up you can dine at the Counter of Joy, picking dishes from its tasting menu. Or head to Wonky Dreams, the dedicated dessert bar with Christmas-themed sweet treats and cocktails. There’s also the Magic Garden, which is the live music space.
But be quick – the Great Feast pop up only runs until December 18th this year.

Tickets to the Great Feast at Old Selfridges Hotel
You’ll need to pre-purchase tickets to get in to the Great Feast at Old Selfridges Hotel, and there are different types of tickets depending on what you want to do.
A general admittance ticket (£20) gets you access to the venue plus a welcome drink. Once you’re in, you can order and pay separately for any other drinks you want, and pick and choose separate dishes from the tasting menu.
If you purchase a Wonky Dreams ticket (£30), you’ll get access to a bed at the Wonky Dreams section of the venue, and one cocktail and dessert.
There are also tickets available for the the Magic Garden (£30), which is the live-music part of the venue. The tickets get you a table, and you’ll be able to order food as you go from the Counter of Joy tasting menu, and desserts and cocktails from Wonky Dreams.
You can also purchase a Counter of Joy tasting menu ticket (£100) which pays for your admittance, welcome drink, and 7 dishes from the 14-dish tasting menu.
If you and a friend buy two tasting menu tickets, you’ll theoretically be able to try the whole 14-course tasting menu (if you each choose a different course as part of your 7 dishes, and share them).
That’s exactly what hubby and I did. And here’s a breakdown of the food we had from the Great Feast tasting menu.

Counter of Joy tasting menu at the Great Feast
The Counter of Joy tasting menu at the Great Feast is filled with food from seven award winning and michelin starred chefs in London.
They include Tom Sellers, Andrew Wong, Jason Howard, Chantelle Nicholson, Ravinder Bhogal, Selin Kazim and AdeJoké Bakare.
So the tasting menu is a great way to whizz through a bunch of food from some of the best chefs in the city.
Having tried 13 of the 14 tasting menu dishes, I can confidently say that there are a lot of good things to eat at the Great Feast.
Favourites include the soy chicken leaf wrap with ginger oil and oscietra caviar. It’s a dish by Andrew Wong, from the infamous A.Wong restaurant in Victoria.
I also really liked the Ekoki corn dumpling with fried prawns and lemon dressing by Adejoké Bakare of the supperclub Chishuru.
The corn dumpling has the most addictive texture (I could eat these by the handful). And the prawns on top are big, juicy things.
Another excellent dish on the Counter of Joy tasting menu is the hot oyster with caviar by Tom Sellers.
The oyster is drenched in a creamy sauce, and the top is burnished. It’s almost like cracking through a savoury creme brulee.
And yet another favourite is the hand-dived scallop with lime pickle butter and bhaji scraps by Ravinder Bhogal. Scallops will always have a place in my heart, and I enjoy the contrasting southeast Asian flavours.
Lastly, I also like the steamed cod with pickled chilli sauce, again by Andrew Wong.
Less successful are the deep-fried brussel sprouts, which do very little to elevate a difficult vegetable.
I’m also not that fond of the confit duck leg, which seems a little one-note, when it could otherwise have been the delivery mechanism for a flavour bomb.
Desserts at Wonky Dreams
After trying out the Counter of Joy tasting menu, we move on to the Wonky Dreams space at the Great Feast. It’s a separate area dedicated to Christmasy desserts and cocktails.
All the desserts sounds good, but we settle on sharing the Christmas Tree Baked Alaska for two.
It’s an absolute stunner, and is also as tasty as it looks. On the outside is a sour cherry meringue, which covers nougat glacé hazelnut ice cream. And at the bottom is a rich chocolate cake.
We also try the party popper pine cone dessert, and have lots of fun exploding the party popper (filled with icing sugar) over the chocolate pine cone. It also releases a bonfire scent in the air, which is a nice touch.
