London has some of the best things to see in the world, and a few absolutely sublime viewpoints from which to see them. The hotel with the best view of London, in my opinion, has to be the Shangri-La at The Shard.
This unique five-star property enjoys almost-panoramic views of London. Furthermore, some of the best rooms at the Shangri-La at The Shard have full 180-degree views of London’s most iconic sites.
Having just spent a night at Shangri-La at The Shard, in a room with a spectacular view, I wanted to write this post to share why I think this is the hotel room with the best view of London.

The best view of London at Shangri-La at The Shard
Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, The Shard stretches high into the clouds above London, and offers some of the most spectacular views of the city. It follows that the Shangri-La Hotel, which occupies levels 34 to 52 of The Shard, is one of the best places to stay at in London, purely for the views alone.
Our stay in a Iconic City View room felt like staying in a glass box floating above the city. The thing I love most about this room type, is the full and unobstructed 180-degree view of the city.
Glass walls surround you, and show off St Paul’s Cathedral to the west, sweeping through to Sky Garden, London Bridge, and Canary Wharf on the east.
And in fact, every room, restaurant and public space in the Shangri-La at The Shard benefits from some pretty spectacular views of London.
My personal favourite space at Shangri-La at The Shard is the 52nd floor infinity pool…
The views really are what you come to Shangri-La at The Shard for, but rest assured that the rooms and amenities are also nonetheless stellar in their own right.

The bathroom with the best view of London
Whoever designed the interiors at Shangri-La at The Shard got it so right. The wraparound views even make their way into the bathrooms, where freestanding baths have those same gorgeous vistas of the city.
I love the idea of spending an afternoon chin-deep in a bubble bath, contemplating London…
Dining with the best view of London
Forever drawn back to these lovely views, we make another visit to Shangri-La at The Shard for a lunch at their restaurant, Ting.
When we arrive at Ting we’re taken to a table that puts us right on the edge of the building, exposed to London that fans out like a carpet beneath us. We dine facing the undulating river Thames, which leads our eyes from London Bridge to Canary Wharf in the distance.
