One Perfect Day In Paris Eiffel Tower

How to Spend One Perfect Day In Paris

There aren’t many cities that you could go to for just one night, but Paris is one of them. We spent one perfect day in Paris wandering around, eating incredible things and exploring whatever our hearts desired most. It was relaxed, easy and, most of all, a brilliant use of a weekend.

In order to accomplish that one day in Paris we booked the 9am Eurostar out of London, arrived in Paris at noon, and left the next evening. It was lush, and actually gave us a fair amount of time.

We ate a few key items (macarons, escargot, croissants) and saw a few key things (Eiffel Tower, The Louvre), and had a pretty awesome time.

All in all, it was a short, perfect, happy trip to the City of Love. Here’s what we did…

Breakfast at Carette

Start your one, perfect day in Paris with a spot of breakfast at the gorgeous Carette.

Opened in 1927, Carette is an old fashioned tea salon and brunch spot that is often voted as having the best patisserie in Paris, and just being all-round awesome. Oh la la.

With this being the case, our visit to Paris had to involve a stop at Carette, where we had some of the richest, creamiest scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, buttery croissants, and some proper hot chocolate. Yum.

Dreamy views of Paris from Montmartre & Sacré-Cœur

After breakfast, head to the Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre.

The Sacré-Cœur, or The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, is located on the topmost peak of Montmartre and is the highest point from which to view Paris.

We loved sitting on the steps outside of the Sacré-Cœur, taking in the dreamy views of Paris beneath us. It’s very romantic, and a nice way to spend a few precious minutes.

Bagels for lunch in Marais

Le Marais is one of the oldest districts in Paris, and the cities old Jewish Quarter. There is a lot to do, see and eat in Marais, and if we had more time we’d do much more. But, for a quick, walkable lunch to go, you can’t go wrong with a bagel.

Our advice – head to the nearest bagel shop in Marais and pick up a salt beef bagel to go, and then walk around and explore the pretty streets, cafes and markets.

Macarons from Pierre Hermé, Paris

Whilst you explore Le Marais, pop into the local Pierre Hermé and sample some of their incredible macarons. Is there anything better to eat on a perfect day in Paris?

No, there is not. Apart from the impeccable texture of the macarons at Pierre Hermé, this haute-patisserie also excels at producing some very clever macaron flavours.

Personal favourites have to be the Infiniment Rose and Signature Ispahan with its gorgeous rose, litchi and raspberry textures.

A walk through Notre Dame

After exploring Marais, head south to the river-island of Île de la Cité, home to Notre Dame.

The island also hosts a flower market, the Marché aux Fleurs, housed in a series of pretty green pavilions.

Dinner at Chez Fernand

Our one, perfect day in Paris has become something of a cult-trip by now, and therefore we google and hunt down the nearest place to dip our spoons into escargot.

That place is Chez Fernand, a charming restaurant located on Rue Christine, just south of the river from the Notre Dame.

Convenient? Yes. Delicious? Hell yes.

In fact, we submerge ourselves fully in the Parisian experience with an order of half a dozen buttery, garlicky escargot, and a dozen delicate frogs legs.

We chuck in some bone marrow for good luck, and have one of the yummiest, most finger licking dinners in a long while.

Sunset at the Eiffel Tower

No matter what anyone says, our weekend away in Paris wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Eiffel Tower.

We save ours for the glorious hour just before sunset, where the sky is turns a rich, deep blue, pink and purple.

Twilight at The Louvre

We save our museum visit for dusk, and while away the evening wandering through The Louvre.

Spending the night at Caron de Beaumarchais

Our perfect day ends at the Caron de Beaumarchais, a beautiful boutique hotel with bags of charm and jewelry-box glitz.

The hotel is also incredibly affordable and well enough located in order to both take advantage of the buzz of the the trendy Marais area at night, and to have a second breakfast at Carette the next morning #winning.

So that was how we spent our day and night in Paris! Do you have any favourite things to do in the city of love? We’d love to know so leave us a comment or get in touch on Instagram :)
