Here are the products I use for easy date night prep

It used to feel like I had ages to get ready for a night out. Since changing jobs and getting married, I like to spend less time on getting ready, and more time on doing the fun things. So here’s my guide to quick and easy date night prep.

1. Add volume to your hair in the shower

Maria Nila’s Pure Volume shampoo and conditioner are two of the hardest working products that I use for date night prep. They give my hair that extra bit of va-va-voom, so that I don’t need to spend ages blowdrying it.

2. Use a heat protectant that doubles as a memory mist

Ouai’s Memory Mist is a multi-tasking product that protects your hair while you blowdry it, and also helps ‘set’ your style. When I’m doing date night prep, I sometimes like to add a little curl to my hair – hubby loves it – and this spray holds every wave. The memory mist also doesn’t feel sticky or brittle – it’s a good’un.

3. Hydrate your skin

I can be really funny about the moisturisers I use on my face, especially if I’m applying makeup on top. There are a couple I really love though, and Sunday Riley’s Tidal Brightening Enzyme Cream is one of them. It’s so airy and light, and is the perfect non-greasy moisturiser for my face. It also feels really cooling and calming too, like a splash of water. Beaut.

4. Even out skin tone

Bobbi Brown’s Skin Long Wear Weightless Foundation is a bit of a mouthful, but does exactly what it says on the tin. The formula is lovely and light, and it has pretty good coverage. It evens out my skin without adding volume, thickness or those awful orange tones, which sometimes happens.

5. Add under-eye brightness

I zap a little of Temple Spa’s Glint Shadow Concealer under my eyes, for a little added brightness. It’s another light formula that doesn’t dry or pull on delicate under eye skin.

6. Wave that shimmer wand

Once my base is set, I dap a little of Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Light Wand on my cheekbones. In the space of a couple of seconds, I look alive! And so vibrant. It’s one of my favourite liquid highlighters, and a little goes a long way.

7. Add some glitz to the inner eye

Now, being that this a super quick and easy guide to date night prep, I’m not doing a lot to my eyes. And for days like this, I just use a little dot of Urban Decay’s heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner on my inner eye. Boom! Mesmerising eyes.

8. Define with mascara

Date night prep wouldn’t be complete with a little definition, and recently I’ve begun to skip the black eyeliner and just go with mascara. I’m enjoying the new Luxscara Volume one from Decorte. No clumps, and full fat lashes.

9. Kiss-me-quick lippy

I love warm-hued lipsticks, and at the moment I’m mostly using MAC’s matte lipstick in the shade Taupe. It’s a clean, rosy-nude colour, that swipes on a treat. I actually use it over Decorte’s lipliner in the shade BE320, which makes sure it stays put all night long.

10. Finish up with a poof of blush

Date night prep wouldn’t be complete with a swipe of blush. Step in Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek to Chic in the colour Pillow Talk, for some subtle pinky glow.

Spring in Santorini – A Photo Gallery

This is my very first holiday post in what I hope will be many more to come! I've been bitten by the travel bug and it's got me bad. Where I once used to pillage the internet for info on restaurants, it's now for cheap flights to anywhere within a 3 hour radius of London.
