Lazy Sunday Mornings

Lazy Sunday Mornings

lazy sunday mornings blog review

I love waking up on Sundays, under crumpled linen sheets and with the whole day stretched out in front of me. I’m not usually a morning person, but I cherish my lazy Sunday mornings.

01.
Contemplation

For me, Sunday mornings are the ideal time to think, when you’re still in bed, under the covers, with nothing but gentle morning light around you.

And quietness. I adore that sweet, peaceful solitude, before you have to think about being a human being.

My lazy Sunday mornings are about doing life admin in bed, in my head, under my duvet, with naps in the middle.

Morning-after macarons

Eventually the abstract thoughts marshal themselves into something more solid. Maybe something as simple as figuring out breakfast.

Mmm, macarons…

Taking care of yourself

Lazy Sunday mornings about taking a little more care of myself and spending a little more time on things I overlook otherwise.

Like my hair. I really should use that leave-in beauty oil that I have absolutely no time for any other day of the week. It’s also great to massage into skin.

Mornings like this are about staying in bed. Maybe reading a little, maybe moisturising a little. I never used to moisturise, and now I can’t seem to stop. My current go-to is Radical Skincare’s Extreme Repair, that’s really helping to eradicate those pesky dry patches on my cheeks.

They’re also about fiddling with new things. New things from shops, yay. These last few weeks I’ve been swept away with the desire to master perfume, and there seems to be no end to the number I’m willing to buy to satisfy this new craving.

The need for it came over me when I was out in Qatar, a place of beautiful people, who smell incredible. And so my exploration of Arabian Oud began and has continued unabated.

So far I’ve bought a few Ouds and I have a few florals on the way. I particularly love my first Narciso Rodriguez perfume, For Her.

Planning for the future

There are other things that have been on my mind too. You see, I’m in this strange – but happy – but strange limbo at work at the moment. Although I was selected for redundancy I ended up joining another team in another role. And because I’m on a project, my redundancy notice period now has a fluid end-time. It ends when my work does, basically.

I shouldn’t be I guess, but I’m full of hope, and I’m enjoying work more than I ever have before. I’m loving what I do now, and the team is incredible.

We’re launching an innovative new product that I’m so grateful to be able to work on, and there’s way more potential to travel now too – maybe even to Australia. Maybe even to LA.

Are these green shoots? I hope so.

Appreciating the small things

And because of this strange mix of events, I’ve spent a lot of time working from home, which I love, because what’s better than working in your pyjamas?

Working in your pyjamas in bed. Yay.

Lazy Sunday mornings are about marvelling at life’s mysterious twists and turns, from redundancy to new, unexpected possibilities.

Saying Thank You

And I also wanted use this morning to say thank you to my readers. I don’t know who very many of you are, but I’m glad to share a little piece of my day with you. I wonder if any of you have been with me from the beginning…

Well, its almost 5 years on from that first blog post, and I’m almost all grown up. Except I still obviously haven’t figured out how to do that healthy breakfast thing. Oh well!

I hope you guys have a great long weekend, and your own lazy Sunday mornings too :)

Spring in Santorini – A Photo Gallery

This is my very first holiday post in what I hope will be many more to come! I've been bitten by the travel bug and it's got me bad. Where I once used to pillage the internet for info on restaurants, it's now for cheap flights to anywhere within a 3 hour radius of London.
