Lunch at 28-50 Kings Road king prawns

A seafood-filled lunch in Chelsea

I don’t know about you, but I’m generally not great at cooking seafood. A salmon fillet in the oven is about all I can handle. And prawns? Well, I am especially bad at making those. Which is why I’m so happy to see king prawns on the menu for lunch at 28-50 Kings Road, Chelsea.

And even more delighted to see them with heads and tails still on, juicy from the grill, their shells licked pink on an open fire. Well, in my mind’s eye it’s an open fire – I didn’t see them being cooked. I was busy devouring the bread and salted butter first. Mmm sourdough.

But they have the look of being tossed on hot coals for a few moments, before being fished out and plated. You know the look I mean…

Ahh, so satisfying. I ordered the largest portion of them, shared half with my partner. Mine we everything I wanted them to be. No filler, just pure prawn. Does anyone else know what I mean? Just me? Ahhh <3

I get it, you like prawns. What else is for Lunch at 28-50 Kings Road?

Well there are also oysters. Hubby is a big fan, can you tell?

We also have a juicy hunk of ribeye steak, with very good xxx sauce. The chips are very good too, and have me regretting not ordering more.

Then there’s pulled lamb shoulder, arranged in a small hillock. A fork pulls this structure apart, and slow-cooked tendrils of lamb collapse onto our cutlery. Yummy.

What about dessert?

We’re feeling in the mood for something chocolatey, so opt for the chocolate madeleines. They are a trio of pillowy little cakes, perfect for a light dessert.

We also have chocolate mousse, which is altogether richer and more unctuous. I don’t mind telling you that I dipped my madeleine into said mousse, and didn’t regret it one bit.

Overall thought of lunch at 28-50 Kings Road, Chelsea

On one hand, the 28-50 restaurant is kinda located in a weird, hard-to-get-to section of Kings Road. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from any of the nearest tube stations. But it’s a nice part of London, and so any of the walks are bound to be quite nice.

And on the other hand, the food is lovely. So well worth a little stroll to get to.

Is the food at 28-50 Halal?

28-50 don’t serve any halal meat in the restaurant. But they have lots of halal fish and vegetarian options if you’d like to visit.
