With a shimmery mermaid tail and swirling tentacles, is this the most instagrammable afternoon tea in London?
London has so many amazing places to have tea, but there is one that we think has the most instagrammable afternoon tea. And that place is Sexy Fish.
In the past, we haven’t had the best experience dining at Sexy Fish. When it opened a few years ago it had mixed reviews; some liked it, others liked it less. But that was then. Now, we want to know if their afternoon tea tastes as good as it looks.

What makes this afternoon tea so good?
Afternoon tea is served on a stand that combines a curvaceous fish tail with a dozen or more slinky, metallic tentacles.
Each arm holds a single element of the afternoon tea, from asian-inspired savouries to intricate desserts. They hang tantalisingly close, ready to be to be plucked and pilfered. But first, pictures!
This, hands down, has to be London’s most instagrammable afternoon tea. Turns out that it’s also one the cities tastiest teas too.
No ordinary finger sandwiches
The menu is filled with Japanese influence, and afternoon tea kicks off with a cup of frothy matcha.
Then we work our way round the immense afternoon tea stand, spinning it to take in all of its luscious treats.
Favourites include the toasted tuna brioche with wasabi mayo, and the smoked salmon and pickled cucumber in a steamed bun. I told you there was Japanese influence :)
And it doesn’t stop there. We also love the Thai chicken sandwich on puffed rice bread, and the cucumber and creme fraiche maki.
Japanese influenced dessert
Once we’ve worked our way round the savouries, we pluck a few of the desserts from the silver perches.
The bright green matcha and raspberry Victoria sponge cake is a firm favourite, and it’s also wrapped up in a glossy red bow, for extra instagrammability.
Next, our attention turns to a pretty pair of white sesame macarons.
“Mehreen”, they seem to call out, “eat us“. I oblige.
Whilst I’m occupied, my sister reaches out for the glossy caramel and chocolate delice. Delicious, indeed.
Last but not least, we coo over the perfectly-formed coconut and mango dome.
Savings the best til last with these fluffy scones
Scones at Sexy Fish are neither instagrammable nor Japanese themed in of themselves. But look at that chic little crab bowl! So pretty.
We pry the scones open and spread them with clotted cream and jam.
So, is this the most instagrammable tea in London?
Hell yes! I mean, top 5 at least, amiright?
