Is This The Best Restaurant In The Shard?
The Shard has some of the nicest restaurants in London, and we love Ting the most
With its delicious food and gorgeous views, Ting might be the best restaurant in The Shard.
Ting is the restaurant at the Shangri-La hotel, which is located in The Shard. It’s on the 35th floor, and has some stunning views across North and East London.
From one part of the restaurant you can see all the way from City of London to Canary Wharf, and then down through to south London.
Killer views and amazing food make Ting the best restaurant in The Shard
I can’t lie, I love Ting most of all for the views, which I could take in all day, every day, if they would let me.
But their food is also hella tasty too.
I’ve just eaten their 6-course tasting menu – called the ‘Journey Menu’ – and here are the things I loved most.
If you like seafood, you’ll love Ting’s fish charcuterie
Ting is the only restaurant in London to experiment with the idea of a fish charcuterie, and to make it so well.
Because I don’t eat pork, I usually can’t order charcuterie at a restaurant. So I adore the fact that I get to eat one here. And I love the way the chef has made fish taste so – meaty.
Favourites are the tuna Cumberland sausage, the stone bass nduja, and fish head terrine. They go beautifully with the sourdough bread too.
Try the hand-dived sea scallop
Our favourite starter at Ting is the hand-dived scallop. It’s got this lovely bite to it, slippery and clean. I love the presentation too, and its pairing with rhubarb, ginger and a delicate dashi broth.
Don’t forget the prawn cocktail
I know it’s retro, but I love a good prawn cocktail. Which is lucky for me, since Ting do a smashing version. It’s tasty, and a pretty little thing too.
Then there’s the ruby-red trout
Trout is one of my favourite fish – it’s like the best of salmon and tuna. I like the version at Ting, and think they’ve done well to pair it with grapefruit and fennel. I would’ve liked the fish to be cut a little more finely, but it’s still a delicious dish.
Not just any old chicken at Ting
I’m an out and out omnivore, so after fish I’ve gotta try the chicken. A sliver of the best part of the breast is served with sticky potato fondant, sage and onion stuffing, and gravy. The good kind.
Then there’s the scrumptious lamb
Lamb’s an odd thing. Mostly I love it, but sometimes, if it’s not cooked well, all I get is that tangy aftertaste.
Not so at Ting, where the lamb is scrummy, and served with sweetbreads, turnip and horseradish puree, and baby turnips. This alone has to make Ting the best restaurant in The Shard.

Desserts are always going to be delicious at the best restaurant in The Shard
The Mont Blanc at Ting is ah-mazinggg. It’s this chestnuty, caramely wonder, in a crisp, thin pastry case, surrounded with little meringue bites. Om nomz.
Then there’s the vegan coconut and mango delice, which is frothy and light, and served with yummy mango and lime sorbet.
And that’s why I think Ting is the best restaurant in The Shard! Good food, great views, and a fabulous time all round.
You can try all these dishes on the a la carte, or as part of a 5 or 6 course tasting menu.
