Autumn beauty favourites

I always find that when the seasons change, so do my skin and hair care needs. This October, my Autumn beauty favourites are a little different than last year

The one main difference is that my hair is now shorter, and I’ve embraced volume and texture, over silky smoothness. I’m also more interested in using natural ingredients, and welcoming organic products into my roster.

Apart from that, my routine is much the same this Autumn, relying on heavier duty moisturises, and even introducing a new face spritz to crank up my hydration.

Here are the products that I’ve used over the last few months, and the ones that have made my new edit of Autumn beauty favourites.

Glossy skin with Saint Iris Adriatica

I first heard of this brand in early summer, and have fallen in love with them. The products are inspired by founder, Sanela Lazic’s, Croatian heritage, and of the region’s thermal spas, snow-capped mountains and wild spaces.

So far I’ve tried the body lotion and facial spritz.

Both come in reassuringly heavy glass vessels. The ‘Serenity Salve’ body lotion is pure genius, especially for this time of year. One light press per leg is all it takes to transform my pins from desert dry to glossy, glowy, gorgeous. The technical term.

Inside is a mixture of essential wildplant oils (including rosehip), salicylic acid to help exfoliation, and organic proteins to encourage cell regeneration.

Next, the ‘Vitality Spritz’ face spray is lovely for those days when I don’t want to wear makeup, and somehow where opening an actual jar of moisturiser and putting it on seems like hard work.

I keep it downstairs, which is perfect for when I remember how dry the air is. It’s a good’un, and it makes me smell like zesty lemons and wild, coastal herbs.

Beautifully silky soaps and creams with Cosmydor

I adore this brand. Everything about Cosmydor is gorgeous, from their organic ethos to their strict policy on limiting packaging (which is just divine to look at too).

This is evident in the cold-processed soaps, which come in just a single sleeve of card, which is completely biodegradable. The cold-processing produces glycerine, which combines with the unheated essential oils, resulting in a really lovely soap.

Each slather slips some of those beautiful, organic ingredients on to the skin.

The R/1 soap is composed of olive and ylang-ylang essential oils, said to nourish more mature skin. My favourite though is the R/4 soap, with its fragrant daisy flower and cardamom oils.

Then we have the C/5 cream, filled with sesame seed and jojoba oil to quickly soften the skin.

It also has active ingredients with anti-ageing properties that are said to help soothe some skin types. These include prickly pear vegetable oil and ho wood essential oil.

Most importantly though, the cream has a really nice subtle scent which is sometimes difficult for brands to get right in high performing products.

Voluminous hair with Maria Nila

Maria Nila has been my haircare saviour these past few months. I’ve fallen into a comfortable routine, using their volume spray and ocean spray to pep up my shorter hair, give it some oomph and texture too.

I use the former by spraying it into my roots, after showering. I then top up with the ocean spray to add even more dimension, and it’s added Colour Guard Complex protects against UV–rays.

I’m not vegan myself, but I love that the brand is. Their cruelty-free products are created in private facilities in Helsingborg, Sweden, where the brand has complete oversight of the entire process.

A little makeup with PUR

Now that my skin and hair are so well prepped, it’s time to add just a little makeup. Some days I don’t even bother, but on others I appreciate a little dab of PUR’s 4-in-1 correcting primer.

The primer slips on a treat after my moisturiser, and helps to smooth out my complexion and reduce any redness. I also love how lightweight the formula is, seeming to disappear right into my skin, blurring pores and blemishes.

I follow this with PUR’s pressed mineral makeup, an incredibly build-able powder foundation that also packs in SPF15. Unlike my usual liquid foundation which can be heavy, the PUR powder compact feels like a good way to wear just a little makeup.

So there you have it, those are my Autumn beauty favourites!
