The infinity pool in London with stunning skyline views
The infinity pool in London with stunning skyline views
With gorgeous wraparound views, this is probably the best infinity pool in London
Floating 52 stories above the city, the infinity pool in London with the best views is in the Shangri-La hotel. It’s the only hotel in the Shard and has some incredible panoramas across the city. It might even be the highest pool in the capital.
I’m sure there’s plenty of choice when it comes to infinity pools, but the views alone make this one of the best in London.

When you arrive, you swipe your entry card across a portal, and then a door swings open to reveal the infinity pool. It’s surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, that offer unbeatable vistas across London.
What are the views like from this infinity pool in London?
To one side you have Battersea and the London Eye. The view then sweeps through Saint Pauls Cathedral, drawing you to the iconic City of London skyline. There’s the curving Walkie Talkie building, nestled among its cohort of skyscrapers. Further to the east you’ll see London Bridge, and then in the distance are the towers of Canary Wharf.
For tourist and local alike, this is a pretty unbeatable way to get a birds-eye look over London.
What’s more, the infinity pool is heated too, so you can use it any season. And, as we all know, London weather is hella unpredictable.
The sauna has the same gorgeous views, and we enjoy flitting between it and the pool. There are showers to freshen up with as you go between the two.
We also found our visit very quiet, only seeing one other couple during the whole morning. Essentially that means you have the whole place to yourself!
How do you access the infinity pool at the Shangri-La Hotel in London?
You don’t need to have booked a room at the hotel to use the pool. Using the hotel’s skypass system means you get access to the pool and sauna.
The pass works from Monday-Thursday, costs £125 per person and includes £50 credit to use at Ting, the restaurant on the 35th floor.
Sounds good, but what’s there to eat?
Food and drinks aren’t served by the infinity pool at the Shangri-La hotel. But there is a very dependable Nespresso machine for coffee, and selection of hotel teas. There’s also iced water.
And when you get peckish, you can use the Skypass credit at Ting, the restaurant on the 35th floor. We used our credit to try out the new Cloud Forest afternoon tea, launched to celebrate 50 years of the Shangri-La hotel.
Afternoon tea at the Shangri-La Hotel
The Cloud Forest afternoon tea showcases the hotel’s east-meets-west aesthetic, and its flair for drama…
We sip these chilled mango teas while admiring the London scenery all around us.
And then come the savoury elements of the afternoon tea. Our favourites include the wasabi cucumber sandwiches and smoked salmon and yuzu nigiri. Best of all are the dumplings, which are meaty and beautifully spiced.
Having devoured these, we move on to the cake selection, which is served in a traditional tiered afternoon tea stand.
They’re all delicious, but we love the pineapple and coconut tart the most. Just look at it…
The mandarin and vanilla macarons have just the right texture, chewy but soft at the same time. We also enjoy the theatrical element of the mango and chocolate ‘pebble’, that has a very satisfying crack.
And then there are the scones, served warm just out of the oven. We prise these open and smear them with pandan cream, another nod to the Far Eastern heritage of the Shangri-La.
There’s also a great tea menu, from which we choose the milky oolong and masala chai. Yum.
Overall thoughts on our infinity pool in London experience
All in all, we’ve had a great time using the Shangri-La facilities. To my mind, they have the best infinity pool in London, and I could spend a whole day relaxing up here. The afternoon tea is a the cherry on the cake.
Is the food at Ting at the Shangri-La Hotel Halal?
Ting at the Shangri-La Hotel serve halal chicken and lamb. They also have a separate halal afternoon tea menu, so the desserts on this menu are all halal too. On the halal menu, none of the cakes or pastries have pork gelatin.
