Wondering where to brunch this weekend?

We’ve got you covered! Our recent discovery of the weekend brunch at Smith & Wollensky has us all excited, and we’re happy to share the secret… Sundays are for brunching after all ;)

Smith & Wollensky are a New York steak house that in recent years have opened up in London. I’ve been meaning to go for a while, and so an invitation to brunch was always going to be met with excitement.

Located in the heart of Strand, Smith & Wollensky is always a good shout for a glamorous meal out. Have you seen how beautiful is it?

Unfortunately, most of the time this sort of place comes with a hefty price tag. Opting for the brunch at Smith & Wollensky however makes it so much easier to go, with a 3-course set menu billed at £26 per person. Not feeling so hungry? Then come in for the 2-course brunch menu at £22 per person. Not bad, is it?

There’s also an a la carte menu available, which looks dangerously good too, and includes everything from an all-American through to a vegetarian breakfast. There are sweet things, savoury things, and things designed to seriously please.

Mr H and I have sworn to come in again, and often.

Brunch at Smith & Wollensky

To kick off our brunch at Smith & Wollensky, we share some classic eggs royale; big, fat, filled with yolk and covered in slippery Hollandaise. Mmm. Hands up if your favourite thing is a poached egg just waiting to be stabbed open. Double mmm.

We also make short work of the duck breast, tossed with pickled vegetables and served a very pretty shade of pink.

Steaks & burgers, of course

Moving on to mains, it’s the USDA sirloin steak that wins Mr H’s heart.

This little sliver of loveliness is served just as we wanted it; medium-rare, with a serviceable char and tender on the inside.

I know I’m meant to like the steak most, but it’s the Dirty-Double cheeseburger that I have eyes for. Swoon.

Desserts are fine things too; we share fresh-baked mini doughnuts, served with a scoop of cream and chocolate dipping sauce. Then of course we have the crème caramel, that husband mistook for crème brulee (but was pleased with in any case). I haven’t see a crème caramel on a menu in ages, have you?
