The Ultimate Summer Beauty Routine
The Ultimate Summer Beauty Routine
Our favourite summer beauty products
Summer is just round the corner, and with it comes a chance to refresh my beauty routine. For the next few months I’ll be rocking a bright lip, paired with a very flicky cat eye and lashings of mascara. Read on to see all the new makeup, skin and hair care bits and bobs in my get-ready-for-summer bag!
Lips
A bright red lip is going to dominate my summer, and my favourite at the moment is the shade ‘Bawse’ from Smashbox (swatched 4th from left). This liquid lipstick has a sponge applicator, and goes on evenly with fair staying power. What I love about it is the way it instantly amps up my makeup with a slash of almost-neon bright red.
I also really like my ‘Viva Glam 1’ lipstick by Mac (swatched 5th from left), which is again a summery red. This is a slightly more muted shade than the smashbox red, but cuts a gorgeous colour on my skin and seems to really bring out the chocolate brown in my eyes and hair.

My MAC Makeup Haul – And A Special Date in The Diary
Then we have the orangey-red ‘Pop Art’ from Code8, (swatched 3th from left) which I love for a matte, daytime perk.
I’m also enjoying the colour brilliance lipstick range from Code8, for when I want to give the mattes a break. Texturally, these lipsticks are super easy to wear, and give a very flattering, non-sticky gloss. Swipe ‘Spiaggia Rose’ on for a pop of coral-pink, or try ‘Wanderlust’ for a pinky-peachy-nude (swatched 1st and 2nd from left).
Eyes
As I’m fairly new to Code8, a beauty brand born in London, I’ve also taken the opportunity to try out one of their eyeshadow palettes. This one is called ‘Jaipur Marbles’, and it looks like it would create a fabulous, sultry summer eye.
So far I’ve played with a couple of the shades individually on my eye, and they have really great staying power. When the right event comes up then I’ll put together a smoky eye with a difference, using that lush rose shade.
Of course the basis of any eye is good liner and mascara, and for these I turn to Charlotte Tilbury this summer.
I am loving the Charlotte Tilbury ‘Rock N Kohl’ eye pencil to shape a flicky cat eye, and then frame it with ‘Legendary Lashes Volume 2’, to really power up my look.

Skin
For me, any beauty look is underpinned by skin that’s been looked after, and Chantecaille’s ‘Flower Harmonizing Cream‘ is gorgeous as a night time moisturiser, to prep skin for the morning.
With my skin taken care of at night, in the morning I like to use ‘Moisture To Go’ from TempleSpa, which is a beautifully light, balm-like cream that my skin seems to drink up. Alongside this I use ‘Peace Be Still’ from TempleSpa on my body, which is just as light as the face moisturiser, and keeps my skin happy for a while.
Then, my summer makeup regime starts. I use a lot of different concealers, but at the moment I’m enjoying Templespa’s ‘Glint’ because its so light and easy to wear.
Following this I turn to Chantecaille’s ‘Future skin’, a foundation which is almost more like a tinted moisturiser, except with better coverage. It slips on a treat, and leaves my skin lovely and dewy.
Once the foundation has set, I’ll do my eyes (see above) and then flick a highlighter across my high points. I’ve got a bunch, but my new favourite is Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Glowgasm’ highlight and bronzer palette. I mean, just look how gorgeous it is…

The Autumn Beauty Edit
The highlight shades swatch on really well, and are very build-able on the skin, adding a really pretty luminescence to any look.
Hair
For hair, as ever, my favourite products are all from Davines. This Italian hair care brand has been a favourite of mine for ages. This season I’m all about the volume and curls, so I’ll be playing around with the Davines ‘Curl Revitaliser’, ‘Curl Primer’ and ‘Volume Boosting Mousse’. So far my favourite is the revitaliser, for plumping up day 2 curls.

Fragrance
Orange blossom to me is such a summer scent – it reminds me of a hot desert and the lush oasis within. Hoping for a sunny summer, I have to also add ‘Eau de Sens’ by Diptyque to my new beauty routine. This is a complex fragrance, underpinned with orange blossom, and it puts a smile on my face every time I wear it.
So there you have it, my summer beauty essentials! Let me know if you think I should try any other products this season.
