A Cult Beauty Haul
When it comes to hair, I want it my Ouai
Where do I start with Ouai? I’ve just started using Ouai products, and I’m wondering why it’s taken me this long. Of all the Ouai in my haircare drawer though, I’m most into using the Super Dry Shampoo and the Wave Spray.
Normally I use a drugstore dry shampoo, but I love how the one from Ouai doesn’t leave my hair feeling crispy, like others tend to. I also spritz my hair with Ouai’s Wave Spray to give my hair a little more life through the ends.
Skincare starts with a great cleanser
Last year I started to explore Sunday Riley as a skincare brand, quickly finding the things I loved most. One of my favourite products is Ceramic Slip, a liquid cleanser that melts away every impurity on my skin. It slips on a treat, and washes away to leave behind a completely clean slate.
Moisturising my way to a glowy complexion
After cleansing, the next step in my winter skincare regime is to moisturise. I tend to skip the serums, toners and other bits and bobs in December, just to keep things easy.
To that end, Jalue’s Velvytt Collection is the easiest route to maintaining supple skin. The Velvytt Skin Soufflé is a great day-time moisturiser, while the balm-like Velvytt Skin Treat delivers an oomph of skincare at night.
Jalue’s secret ingredient is Propolis, which is naturally created by bees. Although it’s been widely used for traditional healing purposes, it’s only recently been appreciated in the west for its antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
And for those days when all I want to do is sit in the bath, Temple Spa’s Aromatherapy Resting Cream helps to create a spa experience at home.
It’s a deeply moisturising night cream, imbued with chamomile, frankincense, lavender, patchouli, geranium, and bitter orange essential oils, which are known for their calming properties.
Must-haves in my winter makeup bag
This winter I’ve switched out my summery shades in favour of more Christmasy ones. I’m also looking to use more subtle makeup for sheer sweeps of colour, rather than anything too bold.
And, when I think of fresh makeup, the first brand I think of is Glossier. I’ve loved using their Haloscope cream highlighter in the shade Quartz to add the prettiest, dewiest touches of light to my cheeks.
Another addition has been a brow pen, again from Glossier. Although I’ve got a set of fairly strong eyebrows naturally, I still have a little patchiness too here and there. The Glossier Brow Flick pen in black allows me to even out any sparse areas, and seems to stay put all day too.
Sweeping colour on lips and eyes
Regular readers will know how much I love Charlotte Tilbury, and almost all the products I’ve tried have been lovely.
For the festive seasons I’m embracing Charlotte Tilbury’s Dreamgasm Luxury Palette, filled with festive rose-gold and copper-bronze shades. I’m finding the texture of the eyeshadows in this palette is beautiful and emollient, and each shade seems to melt into the other really nicely too.
I’m also playing around with Charlotte Tilbury’s Barbarella Brown khol pencil, to create some added dimension along the lashline. For a fiercer look, I also line my eyes in Code8’s Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black. Its fine paintbrush tip is super easy to control.
When it comes to lips, I’ve fallen for the Matte Revolution lipsticks in the shades Amazing Grace and Walk of Shame. I’m finding them super easy to wear, and I love how buildable they are in terms of colour intensity. For example, layering the pink-hued Amazing Grace over Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk lipliner gives it a really gorgeous, moody feel.
